Healthcare Support for Doctoral Candidates

Health services throughout your contract

As a doctoral candidate, you have dual status:

  • As a student, you can access SUMPPS for non-work related health care.
  • As a paid contractual staff member, you are considered an employee of Sorbonne University and are therefore covered by your supervisor's preventive medicine service (prevention of any deterioration in the health of employees due to their work).

The Direction de la médecine de prévention (DMP) accompanies doctoral candidates under contract at Sorbonne University, the DR2 of the CNRS and the EPHE. It conducts occupational health actions with the aim of preserving the physical and mental health of workers throughout their professional career.

A series of medical check-ups has been set up by the DMP. It comprises of:

  • A first appointment at the beginning of your contract, and a third visit at the end of it, carried out by the occupational physician. Additional examinations may be prescribed depending on the risks to which you are exposed.
  • A second intermediate visit carried out by an occupational health nurse.

These visits are compulsory, and you will receive an invitation to them via your institutional e-mail address.
You can also request an appointment outside of this protocol: the DMP can be reached via the following email address: smp@sorbonne-universite.fr

All members of the DMP's multidisciplinary team are involved in medical monitoring, including occupational physicians, occupational health nurses and occupational psychologists.
The DMP is located at the Pierre et Marie Curie campus, next to tower 55.
