The Deployment of Digital Tools for Public Service – OPEN-SU Project
The OPEN-SU project aims to develop digital tools to foster openness toward three types of audiences: students, our innovation partners, and the general public.
The OPEN-SU Project
For International Students
Openness to the world is the first axis of the strategic project of Sorbonne University and the Alliance. The aim is to allow the many international students we welcome to prepare for their mobility experience even before they arrive on campus, so they can immediately become active members of the university community from their very first day.
Information and access to services intended for them will be developed through a single point of access where they can find everything necessary for their stay—from practical matters like housing or transportation, to administrative formalities, and including the associative and cultural offerings that will facilitate their integration on site.
This digital access point will form a necessary foundation for the development of new services that will facilitate the management of both incoming and outgoing international mobility and improve global openness for all students.
For Our Innovation Partners
Sorbonne University and its Alliance partners have long worked to highlight the expertise of their laboratories in the service of collaborative innovation projects—evidenced by the vibrant activity in partnership research, patents filed, and support for entrepreneurship.
With the upcoming opening of the Cité de l’innovation, we will have an additional physical space where researchers, students, and partners can jointly develop their innovation projects. While in-person meetings are essential to the success of these initiatives, digital platforms that showcase and explore the expertise of laboratories and researchers are a crucial support for partner discovery.
The second axis of the project involves interfacing the data we currently hold on our research expertise (bibliometrics, contracts, patents, projects) and making them available through an open interface, allowing users to explore our capabilities using keywords and themes aligned with those of our innovation partners.
For the general public
Contributing to the open science movement is a strategic priority for the Alliance. The third axis of the project involves developing two key tools for this purpose:
- Accelerating the transformation of Presses de Sorbonne Université into Open Presses by making all our book and journal collections freely accessible online in appropriate digital formats;
- Taking a major step forward in the deployment of citizen science platforms: building on the experience accumulated by the MNHN in this area, the Alliance is relying on the new service unit MOSAIC to broadly develop the digital tools that enable large-scale deployment of citizen science projects.
