Sorbonne University has implemented an ambitious institutional policy to combat all forms of discrimination and racist and anti-Semitic acts.

Missions

  • Establish procedures for referral
  • Help determine the institution's policy on combating racism and anti-Semitism (participate in drafting internal regulations, structure actions aimed at preventing racist, anti-Semitic or discriminatory acts, etc.)
  • Promote a culture of law and greater awareness of the fight against racism and anti-Semitism among all audiences: research staff, administrative staff, doctoral students, undergraduates and postgraduates
  • Contribute to the mechanisms put in place by the institution for reporting acts of violence, discrimination, harassment and sexist behaviour (classification of acts, administrative investigation, guidance for staff, doctoral students, students, etc.)
  • Participate in the implementation of mediation to facilitate conflict resolution
  • At the request of the disciplinary section, provide analysis to assist in the investigation of racist, anti-Semitic or discriminatory acts
  • Record acts of a racist, anti-Semitic or discriminatory nature
  • Establish monitoring mechanisms to anticipate and prevent conflicts by providing institutional, scientific and educational resources
  • Prepare an annual activity report for the university president, who will forward it to the Ministry of Research and Higher Education
  • Participate in surveys conducted by the Ministry or the National Observatory on Discrimination and Equality in Higher Education (Ondes)
  • Participate in the national network of ‘racism and anti-Semitism’ advisors led by the Ministry
  • Participate in national events, particularly those co-hosted by the Ministry and conferences for school principals, and promote the institution's actions in this context
  • Build internal and external collaborations, on the one hand with the equality and scientific integrity representatives, the university mediator and the Security and Defence Representative, to whom you must immediately report any information relating to a threat or act of violence against persons or property, and on the other hand with the representatives in charge of the same issues within the local education authorities.
