Debate “Which city for tomorrow?" In partnership with the weekly Le 1

Tuesday, October 13 at 7.15 p.m., Sorbonne campus - Richelieu Amphitheater (17 rue de la Sorbonne - 75005 Paris)

More than half of the world's population currently resides in cities. According to UN forecasts, this will be nearly 70% by 2050. Transport, mobility, public health, energy optimization or the environment: the societal challenges linked to the growth of the urban population are numerous and complex. To respond to this, the development of innovative solutions fascinates as much as it worries. But what will the city of tomorrow really look like? How to live better in the city?

Round table moderated by Julien Bisson, editor-in-chief of 1.
Sorbonne University speakers:

  • Patrizia Ingallina, geographer specializing in smart cities, responsible for the master’s specialization in Urban Planning at Sorbonne University and author of Ecocity, Knowledge city, Smart city: towards an eco-sustainable city?, Presses Universitaires du Septentrion, 2019
  • Raja Chatila, professor of artificial intelligence, robotics and ethics, Institute of Intelligent Systems and Robotics (ISIR), Sorbonne University

The faculty of medicine is closed to the public and operates according to a business continuity plan (research, pedagogy, administrative) since Monday, March 16, 2020. The closure of the faculty to the public effectively results in the cancellation of all courses in face-to-face. Research activities and vital administrative activities are maintained, under the conditions specified by the university administration in the Business Continuity Plan. Beyond the end of classroom lessons, university libraries are closed. The situation is constantly changing, staff and students are invited to consult their emails, the university intranet and the FAQ to stay informed.
