Information on the cyberattack at Sorbonne University
Sorbonne University has recently been targeted by a cyberattack, at a time when a growing number of institutions are also falling victim to this kind of attack. The university’s IT system is currently severely disrupted following the detection of a security breach affecting various IT tools, but which has not prevented operational continuity. To tackle this situation, corrective measures have been adopted to reinforce security procedures.

The latest results from investigations led by teams at Sorbonne University, in collaboration with cybersecurity experts, have shown that several types of sensitive data at the university have been compromised, and which include professional email addresses, bank details, social security numbers and staff salary information.
In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Sorbonne University immediately filed an incident report with the French Data Protection Authority (CNIL) and the French Cybersecurity Agency (ANSSI) and also declared the attack on behalf of the institution.
The teams at Sorbonne University are working tirelessly to manage the situation and restore services as quickly as possible. At the current time, all essential staff IT services at the university are operational during working hours.
