Two winners of the Charpak Dubousset Prize of the French National Academy of Medicine

Jimmy Da Silva, who received his PhD at Sorbonne University at the Institute of Intelligent Systems and Robotics (ISIR), and Elie Saghbiny, an orthopedic surgeon and researcher at ISIR, are both winners of the prestigious Charpak Dubousset Prize, awarded by the French National Academy of Medicine.

They received the award for their collaborative work at ISIR and the company SpineGuard. This work focused on the use of SpineGuard's DSG technology in robotic surgery to automatically detect potentially dangerous bone breaches and to immediately stop the drilling when approaching the spinal cord or other soft tissues.

The Charpak Dubousset Prize, awarded by the French National Academy of Medicine, is intended for researchers who have carried out work that has led to a medical application in the field of healthcare. It was presented on Tuesday, December 13, during the formal session and the announcement of the winners and presentation of the 2022 scientific prizes at the National Academy of Medicine.
