Four crucial issues for our future
How can we prepare for the France of tomorrow? Faced with multiple democratic, scientific, economic, environmental and geopolitical challenges, universities have a vital role to play. Educating citizens, producing knowledge, supporting local communities and fostering innovation; they are the bedrock of a more equitable and sustainable society.
With six months to go until the 2027 French presidential election, this event will bring together university leaders, students, researchers, elected representatives, business stakeholders and leading figures from civil society. As part of France Universités’ contribution to public debate on the future of higher education and research, this event aims to shape an ambitious vision for higher education and research in 2027.
Throughout the course of the day, the talks will focus on four key issues:
- Education for transformation. Excellence and equal opportunities go hand in hand.
- Universities as laboratories for thriving local areas. When universities lead by example, from local to national levels.
- Research and science for French and European influence and sovereignty.
- Universities as global beacons, strengthening the French-speaking world and sharing democratic values.
