Creating Crystals: a Journey Between Art and Science
Natural crystals have long fascinated humanity, not only for their beauty but also for their physical and chemical properties. Advances in research now enable the reproduction and creation of new materials through “crystalline synthesis,” an experiment lying at the crossroads of art and science. More information below.

Presentation
The exhibition “Creating Crystals: A Journey Between Art and Science” explores a segment of the vast field of crystal synthesis, tracing a path from the first gem stones to new materials that are increasingly present in our everyday environment.
Visitors are invited to discover how crystals, in their many forms and across multiple scales, are used in the composition of tools and objects that structure contemporary life. Through this exploration, the exhibition provides a better understanding of functions or dysfunctions of living organisms.
Beyond the realms of technology and innovation, the exhibition stages a sensitive and reflective encounter between two laboratories: that of the scientist and that of the artist. In this dialogue, scientific research, industrial development, and artistic creation intersect and enrich one another.
"Creating Crystals, A Journey Between Art and Science” invites the viewers to enter the worlds of three artists inspired by science, matter, growth and the delicate balance between randomness and control. The works of Léa Barbazanges, Vincent Gontier, and Ada Yu engage in a poetic and aesthetic dialogue with historical and contemporary studies on crystalline synthesis, examining the development of both inorganic and organic forms of the process.
