Career development

The Doctoral College offers doctoral candidates various information, training, networking and personalised advice aimed at developing their careers. These actions allow doctoral candidates a chance to join the different professional realms accessible to doctors.

Career development

Training cycle: Professional future

This cycle of courses has been designed to accompany doctoral candidates throughout their doctoral training. It includes two awareness-raising seminars (interactive presentation with several speakers) supplemented by in-depth workshops in small groups, and personalised counselling sessions (individual appointments, personalised listening).
Apart from this teaching cycle, a few independent modules related to career plans are also available.

Meet-ups and Networking

Among the actions proposed by the Doctoral College are Career Meet-ups. These meet-ups allow doctoral candidates to discover professions, business sectors or doctoral courses. They enable them to meet companies and PhDs working in the private and public sectors (large, medium and small companies, start-ups, administrations, local authorities, associations, etc.), to imagine themselves in different types of organisations and professions. The place given to discussion during these meetings is important. It is an opportunity for doctoral candidates to understand the added value of their doctoral training and to broaden their professional network. For companies, it is an opportunity to present their activities and their professions, to communicate their expectations and to meet their future employees or partners. These meetings are also open to young PhDs from Sorbonne University.
Some of these meetings are organised in collaboration with the Club des Docteurs de Sorbonne Université. Doctoral candidates are regularly asked to participate in the organisation of these days. We support them in this activity which they can then promote in their portfolio.
