Sorbonne University 35th in the 2021 Shanghai Ranking
Sorbonne University has moved up four places from last year.
In the 2021 Academic Ranking of World Universities (Shanghai Ranking), Sorbonne University has moved up four places to sit at 35th in the world, a testament to the research strength of the institution and its continued commitment to innovation.
The Academic Ranking of World Universities is an annual list of the world’s top 1000 research universities. Universities are ranked by a range of performance indexes, including the number of research papers published in top journals, the number of Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals awarded, and overall academic performance.
The ARWU also presents subject-based rankings. This year, Sorbonne University is listed third in the world in both mathematics and oceanography, an outstanding result. It also comes in the top 10 in Earth Sciences, and 15th in physics.
